Olive Township Historical Society
The Olive Township Historical Society was formed in 2004 by a group of five
people interested in "Preserving History for the Next Generation". Membership
has grown to over 20 members from all over the United States.
Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Olive
Township Museum/Olive Center School located at 11768 Polk Street. Visitors are
welcome.

Olive Township Christmas
Home Tour
The Olive Township Historical Society will hold its Country Christmas Home Tour
on Friday, December 7 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, December 8 from 11-4
p.m. The tour will feature 5 decorated homes and the David Eppelheimer
collection of vintage Christmas decorations at the Olive Township museum.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets
can be obtained at the Olive Township Hall, at the museum on the days of the
event or by calling Sandy at 875-8036 or Bev at 399-6939. The museum is
located at 11768 Polk Street, Holland Michigan. It is about 1/2 mile east
of 120th Avenue on Polk Street.
Mr. Eppelheimer’s unique and vast collection of ornaments and decorations can
also be seen on Saturdays during the month of December. Dates the
collection can be seen during the Christmas season include December 15, 22, 29
and also January 5. The museum will be open during these dates from 11-3.

Olive Center General Store
Southeast corner of 120th Avenue and Polk Street.
The store burned in January, 1929 from an overheated stove.
Harold VanderZwaag drove a team of horses and a peddle wagon as far as
Lake Michigan Drive to the north, 128th Avenue to the west, 112th Avenue
to the East, and many side roads in between.
In the winter the wheels of the wagon were replaced with a sleigh chassis.
It was the hub of activity on Saturday nights for many boys and men.
