It may seem old-fashioned, but books are still great sources of research information that isn't readily available on the internet. It can be challenging to know what's available. Libraries can help. But that's not always an option.

Below is a list of books we've heard about and think could be helpful. We tried to include links to library-owned copies, places to buy copies and online access options if known. Some are downloadable for offline study or use on a mobile device. Many will be searchable. Some may not. Either way, happy hunting!

Family Maps of Washtenaw County, MichiganGregory A. Boyd J.D.2010322 pages with 65 total maps Locating original landowners in maps has never been an easy task-until now. This volume in the Family Maps series contains newly created maps of original landowners (patent maps) in what is now Washtenaw County, Michigan, gleaned from the indexes of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. But it offers much more than that. For each township in the county, there are two additional maps accompanying the patent map: a road map and a map showing waterways, railroads, and both modern and many historical city-centers and cemeteries. Included are indexes to help you locate what you are looking for, whether you know a person's name, a last name, a place-name, or a cemetery.U of MAmazon
