Eben Junction

Bertha Eleanor Aho, age 90, of M-94, Eben Junction passed away at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising where she had been a resident since September 1998. She was born in Eben Junction to Henry and Maria (Palomaki) Herrala and attended Eben School. Bertha worked at the X-Cello Corporation in Detroit during the War years and did waitress work most of her life. Bertha married Wilho “Jerry” Aho in Detroit in 1942. They returned to Eben Junction in 1950’s. Bertha had a quiet loving way about her and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son Gerald Aho of Hollywood, California and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Jerry on November 14, 2002; her parents; four sisters Helmi Ross of Eben Junction, Esther Diliert of Muskegon, Helen Metsa of Hurley, WI, an infant sister Ailie Herrala; and two brothers John and Arne Herrala of Eben Junction.

Per Bertha’s request, a memorial graveside service will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham at a later date. Memorial considerations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Bertha.
