Marie L. Ake age 86, died Tuesday afternoon June 12, 2007, in Hospice care at Lakeside Vista and Villas, in Holland, Michigan. Marie was born on January 8, 1921 in Munising to the late William and Rose (Revord) Beauchamp. She attended Sacred Heart School, and William G. Mather High School in Munising. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, and devoted to the Blessed Mother. She married Charles Ake September 29, 1942; he preceded her in death July 13, 1982. Marie worked at the Munising Woodenware; she also worked many years as a waitress in Munising. Throughout Marie’s life she had a special love for music.
Marie is survived by her children – Bonnie (David) Cotts and Donna (Udo) Derr both of Holland, MI – Clayton (Debbie) Ake of New Boston, MI and Rick (Julie) Ake of Munising; grandchildren – Darren, Brian, Tina,Christopher, Amy, David, Tiffany, Traci, Jesse, Rikki; numerous great-grandchildren; Sisters – Lila Radtke , Irene O’Brien; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, grandson Michael, brother Buck Beauchamp, and sisters Mildred and Dorothy.
Marie’s visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, at the Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. Friends may call at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14, 2007 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to any hospice service.
