Lorraine Marie Boucher, age 80, of 307 Fir Street, died on Tuesday morning, November 14, 2006 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising where she had resided due to a ten year illness. It was four score and eleven plus months ago that Felix and Annette (Brebner) Boyak brought into the world a bouncing baby girl who grew up and dedicated her life in Munising to family, friends and her church. Lorraine Marie Boyak was born on December 10, 1925 in Munising. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and then Wm. G. Mather High School in 1945. Lorraine worked at the Munising Woodenware and Atlas Plywood before she married Paul Henry Boucher on June 14, 1947. She also worked in the meat department of the Red Owl and was a homemaker. Lorraine was a religious education teacher for over twenty-five years at Sacred Heart Church. She also belonged to the National Catholic Society of Foresters and St. Anthony’s Guild. Lorraine and Paul were members of the Loyal Order of Moose, and they were married forty-six years when he preceded her in death on May 28, 1993. Lorraine loved family gatherings where she enjoyed spending time laughing and visiting with family and friends, playing cards, bingo, and walking the boardwalk.
Lorraine is survived by two sons – Terrence “Terry” Boucher of Munising and Paul Boucher of Lapeer, MI; grandchildren – Gabriel Boucher, Emily (Thomas) Judd, Benjamin, Nathan (Alisa), and Colleen Boucher; great-granddaughter – Alexis Boucher, daughter of Gabriel; brothers – Mark (Carolyn) Boyak of Garden City, MI and Dennis “Fuzzy” (Deanna) Boyak of Munising; sisters – Ann (Ed) Sowa, Jeannie (Ron) Strand, and Karen Hamilla all of Munising, and Cathy (Walter Jr. “Tooker”) Hamilla of Flushing; sisters- in -law – Joyce Boyak of Munising, Frances Mitchell of Bellflower, CA, and Mary Anne Bovan of Munising; brother-in-law – Larry (Ruth) Boucher of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, brother Robert “Binks” Boyak, infant brother Joseph, and brothers-in-law – Frank Hamilla, Clifford Boucher, Jack Mitchell, and Bill Bovan.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The National Catholic Society of Foresters will recite the Rosary on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Sacred Hearth Church at 12:10 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
