DOROTHY ELEANOR GORDON

Dorothy Eleanor Gordon, age 97, formerly of the Chatham Manor, entered the presence of the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2004 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on January 28, 1907 in Mohawk, Michigan, daughter of William and Sophie (Hecker) Bryant. Dorothy was married to Albert William Gordon. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1988. Dorothy graduated from Bakers Business University in Flint in 1924, and with her husband, Albert, owned and operated a large commercial construction company in Flint for many years. Their company built numerous major landmarks in the Flint area. They returned to the Upper Peninsula in 1975 to be near their daughters. Dorothy and Albert were members of the Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Eben Junction. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting. Dorothy was well known from having worked so many years at Morgan’s Country Store in Traunik, owned by her daughter, Dee.

Dorothy is survived by: daughters – Darlene (Dene) Lighty of New Oxford, PA and Delayne “Dee” (William) Morgan of Eben Junction; a stepson, Albert W. (Gail) Gordon of Grand Rapids; grandchildren – Timothy Bryant Morgan, Karen Klecotka, Connie Wierenga, and Allan Gordon; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Eben Junction. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ted Jolls at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to WHWL Christian Radio, 130 Carmen Drive, Marquette, MI 49855.
