Lillian Kirmo
(January 17, 1923 - May 5, 2007)
 

Lillian W. Kirmo, age 84, of N6404 Connors Road, Munising, died on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at her home with her family surrounding her. She was born on January 17, 1923 in Munising to the late John and Veronica (Zarawski) Klosowski. Lil grew up in Shingleton and attended school there. On July 18, 1942, she married Arne John Kirmo. Lil and Arne were married almost fifty years when he preceded her in death on April 13, 1992. She had worked at Atlas Plywood, did housekeeping, and worked at the Red Cedar for many years. Lil was also a homemaker and she and Arne raised their eight children. She was a member of the Shingleton Home Extension, enjoyed making crafts, sewing, quilting, and gardening. Lillian’s first love was playing the guitar. At family get-togethers, Lil was the center of entertainment, as she would play the guitar, sing, and yodel. She passed on her love of music to all of her children and taught them all how to play. Two weeks ago, they were all together singing and playing one last time together as a family.

Lillian is survived by her children – Katherine Jepson of New London, WI, Pauline (Ron) Frans of Manistique, Robert “Bob” Kirmo of Wetmore, Richard “Dick” (Lorraine) Kirmo of Munising, Michael “Mike” Kirmo of Grayling, Donald “Don” (Debbie) Kirmo of Van Meer, Dale (Sandy St. Martin) Kirmo of Van Meer, and Sandra “Sandy” (Gene) Virta of Shingleton; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; brother – John (Pat) Klosowski of Munising; sisters – Stella (Richard) Debelak of Munising and Annie Klosowski of Shingleton; sister-in-law - Alma Klosowski of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lil was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arne, son-in-law John “Jack” Jepson, and siblings Edward and Walter Klosowski, Helen Anderson, Mary Debelak, Pearl Gurski, Jennie Heyrman, Sophie Olson.

Lil’s visitation and funeral service will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising and she will be escorted by her grandchildren.
