Dale Patrick Moulds
(February 28, 1947 - August 21, 2008)

Van Meer / Lebam, WA

Dale Moulds, age 61, of Lebam, Washington and formerly of Van Meer, died on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. He was born on February 28, 1947 in Detroit, MI, to the late Russell and Lillian (Mattson) Moulds. Dale’s family moved to Munising in 1950. He graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1965. On June 2, 1966 Dale entered into the United States Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Germany and Azores. Dale worked as a Marine Engineer and Wheel Vehicle Mechanic throughout his time in the service before being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on February 18, 1975. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Driver Award w/Bar, Mechanic Badge w/bar, Marksman Badge, Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/ Palm, and Good Conduct Medal. When Dale returned to the U.P., he moved to Van Meer. In 1991 he moved to Washington with Robin Bond. Dale and Robin were married on November 16, 1996. He enjoyed hunting deer and partridge with his dog Bart, fixing cars, playing his guitar and singing, and loved playing with his grandchildren. Dale and Robin also cared for an 18 month old neighbor named Wyatt McDonald who lovingly knew Dale as “Papa”.

Dale is survived by his wife – Robin Moulds of Lebam, WA; children Chris (Robyn) Bond of Ashland, WI and Rebecca (Ryan) Ashley of Toledo, WA; six grandchildren – Preston, Lucas, Kaylee, Trenton, Cameron, and Emma; three sisters – Millie (George Jr.) Mannisto of Lost Lake, Fran (Fred) Livermore of Van Meer, Sharon (Ray) Syers of Van Meer; half brother – Tom (Maria) Metsala of Kentucky; half sister – Arleen (Bob) New of South Dakota; brothers and sisters-in-laws – Terry (Teresa) Bond of Shingleton, Roxanne (Ron) of Ashland, WI, Sheila Stephans of Lebam, Brett (Sam) Bond, Letha Groeneveld, and Vern (Dawn) Bond all of Ashland, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Lillian and brother-in-law Roger Groeneveld.

Dale’s visitation will be on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Deacon James Anderson will conduct his funeral on Friday, August 29th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery where the Alger County Veterans Council will conduct military honors. Dale will be escorted by Robert and Bill Johnson, and Ralph, Norman, Fred, and Brian Livermore.
