MARY MADELINE PATER
Mary Madeline Pater, age 94, of Munising, died July 15, 2004 at the
Munising Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1909 in
Munising to the late Thomas and Victoria (Bien) Pater. Mary graduated
from Sacred Heart School, and was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church and a member of the Alger County Historical Society.
Mary worked as a waitress at Potter's Restaurant in Munising and the
Nightingale Restaurant in Marquette. She also worked at the Munising
Woodenware and at Dunklee's Fernville. Mary attended the Embassy Beauty
College of Muskegon, MI and the Virginia Farrel Academy of Advanced Hair
Styling and Perm Waving at Detroit. Mary worked at Lila's Beauty Shop in
Muskegon for seven years and four years at the Powder Puff Salon in
Munising. Mary was a devoted member of Sacred Heart and she donated the
monies in memory of her brother, John, to Sacred Heart Church for the
restoration and return of the steeple and church bells for all to enjoy.
She is survived by: a brother, Stephen of
Munising and a sister-in-law, Thelma of Shingleton.
Mary was preceded in death by her
parents, brother, Judge John Pater and sisters Henrietta and Julia Pater.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated
on Saturday, July 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Munising.
Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
