Robert E. Ranguette
(April 16, 1922 - August 21, 2008)
 

Harvey / Munising

Robert “Bob” E. Ranguette, age 82, of 1336 M-28, Harvey and formerly of Munising, went to his heavenly home in the loving arms of his wife, Joyce, and “special” doggie, Missy, at their home on Thursday morning, August 21, 2008. Bob was born on April 16, 1922 in Escanaba to the late Edmond “Sam” and Myrtle (Johnson) Ranguette. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1944 where he was a member of the U.P. Basketball Champion team. Bob served stateside in the U.S. Air Force during WWII from Jun 1944 – Oct 1954 in the aviation cadet program as a medic. He married Mary Lou Menard on July 8, 1947 and they were married over fifty-three years when she preceded him in death on January 1, 2001. Bob played basketball for two years for the MSU Spartans and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Management in 1951. He worked for Kaiser – Frazier in Ypsilanti at the Willow Run Plant and then for GM at the same plant. Bob began employment at the Munising Paper Company as the Safety and Service Representative on 1/1/1954. He became Personnel Superintendent and retired from Kimberly Clark on 1/1/1988. Bob married Joyce Methot Mercier on July 23, 2004. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Munising and St. Louis the King of Harvey and the Knights of Columbus in Munising. Bob was an original member of the Board of Directors of the PRGCC and Board President, and was part of the purchasing of the land at its inception. He helped start the Little League Program in Munising and served on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union and served with the American Cancer Society Committee. Bob enjoyed golfing and playing basketball for Harry’s.

He is survived by his wife – Joyce Ranguette of Harvey and their special dog Missy; daughter – Beth Morton of Milwaukee, WI; step-daughter – Julie (Eric) Burkhart of Imperial Beach, CA; step-sons – Leonard (Lori) Mercier of Marquette, Ben (Dawn) Mercier of Maruette, and Ken Mercier of Manitowac, WI; two granddaughters; three step-granddaughters; six step-grandsons; brother-in-law – Bill Baum of Escanaba; several nephews, one niece, and cousins. Bob was also preceded in death by his sister – June Baum.

No public services are planned at this time. Memorials in memory of Bob may be made to the Escanaba Area High School Scholarship Fund. Bob’s family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Himes and entire staff at U.P. Internal Medicine in Marquette, U.P. Home Health and Hospice in Marquette – they were such a joy and blessing, to Snyders Drug Store in Harvey, and a special thanks to the “special” friends that God has sent to us – you all know who you are.
