Veda Marie Sadler
(March 20, 1912 - April 7, 2006)

Seney

Veda Marie Sadler, age 94 of Seney died on Friday evening, April 7, 2006 surrounded by her family at Harbour View Assisted Living in Munising. Veda was born on March 20, 1912 to Albert and Charlotte (Durno) Pawley in Pickford, Michigan. She graduated from the Loretto Academy in Sault Ste. Marie. Veda married Earl “Pat” Sadler in Mason City Iowa on November 9, 1929. They moved to Seney and built Pat’s Market which they ran for 40 years. She was also a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Seney for 33 years. Veda was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Germfask. In her younger years, Veda loved fishing and hunting with her sons. She also enjoyed watching her grandsons and great-grandsons wrestle. Most of all she treasured her time with her family, especially at Driggs Lake. She was truly and “kid magnet” and will be remembered by many generations in Seney for her hugs and special treats.

Veda was preceded in death by her husband Pat in 1985, her three sons, Pat in 2002, Mike in 2003, and Don in 2006, one infant grandchild, Patrick Lyle, Jr., a great-granddaughter Candance Sadler, and brothers Melborn and Lyle Pawley. Veda is survived by three daughters-in-law - Peggy Sadler of Munising, Ann Sadler of Marquette and Geraldine Wright of Valdosta, GA; sixteen grandchildren - Cindy (Tom) Killips of Munising, Pat (Becky) Sadler of Wetmore, Don (Kelly) Sadler of Gladstone, Ron (Julie) Sadler of Indianapolis, IN, Chris (Joanne) Sadler of Wetmore, Shawn (Traci) Sadler of Wetmore, Billy (Barb) Niswonger of Merriam, KS, Duane Sadler of Valdosta, GA, Devi (Ed) Sharp of Valdosta, GA, Darla (Jeff) King of Hesperia, CA, Richard (Bonnie) Sadler of Kingsford, MI, Michael Sadler of Atmore AL, Debra (Doug) Liberty of Marquette, Lorrie (Greg) McAuliffe of Marquette, Cathy (Dave) DeRocher of Marquette, and Sherry (David) Dodendorf of Leslie, MI, 38 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; niece Lois (Jim) Wick of University Place, WA, and cousin - Bertha Houghton of Manistique.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Father Tim Hruska and Father Joy Adimakeel on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church in Germfask. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Germfask Township Riverside Cemetery. Veda will be escorted by great-grandchildren: Michael, Melissa, and Angela Sadler, Scott and Valerie Killips, and Chelsea Wallner.
