It appears John died between 1839 and 1841 in New York, either Cayuga, Tompkins, or Tioga County. Joseph came to New York in 1853 from Allmendshofen, Donaueschingen, Baden, Germany with his wife and three of his children, Joseph, Jr., Agatha and Emily. Agatha died soon after arrival in New York. The family farmed in New York for a short time, and then moved to Portage in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, where Joseph bought a farm, which he and his son, Joseph, Jr., farmed. Joseph Sr. and his wife moved to Georgia in 1867, accompanied by Emily and Joseph, Jr. Son Herman and daughter Rosa (my g-grandmother) preceded the family to New York, then joined them in Michigan, and proceeded to California when the rest of family moved to Georgia.
