EDITORIAL

It has been said that "the cheapest and quickest way to trace your family tree is to run for public office", but we all can't do that. The rest of us have to do it the hard way, and it is hoped that this publication is of some help in doing that. However, to better serve our purpose, we need answers to some questions.

Does the Newsletter make a difference? Is there a better way to accomplish the same goals? Whoever reads this, wherever you live please tell us your opinion. If there is a portion which meets your approval, tell us about it. Otherwise it may be dropped in the next issue

Contrary to popular opinion in some quarters, your Newsletter does not appear every three months as the good deed of a very friendly genie. It is the collective effort of only a few determined individuals. Without the willing aid of Joan Norton, Delynne Andres, Catherine Senecal, Mary Van Avery, Dale Warren, and Richard Welch, this issue would not have been possible.

Each issue following will be different because each editor will be different. I've been honored by being named Allegan County Editor. I really can't think of anything I'd like better other than being beaten over the head with a stick: My primary objective in this issue is to avoid boredom. Thus, you will find material presented in every form known to man (or woman:). From linotype to handwriting - we've even used 2 different typescript faces. With as many illustrations and pictures as possible to break up the monotony. If you like this, or don't like it, say so:, so the next editor will have some idea on what to do next: Personally, it looks a little "sloppy" to me, but what do you think? Maybe I'm a frustrated perfectionest.

I'm told that since I am the first "County Editor", I will serve as pathfinder for those who follow. Hah:, if they don't beat me without half trying, they're in a bad way!

As a parting thought don't just sit there!, put your two cents in even if it does cost you eight cents to send it to us!

Take Care, as we need all our readers alive, and preferably kicking!
