I'm looking
for descendants of John Wesley MOON, b. 18 Jan, 1836, Van Buren Twp, Wayne
Co., MI, s.o. Stuart/Stewart/Steward C. MOON, and Mary. He was the brother
of my 2nd great-grandmother Elizabeth MOON BROWN. Following her death,
and that of her sister Emeline, in 1853, the MOON family went to Jackson
Co., MI. According to the bios I have, he went to Muskegon in 1856, and
was employed as head sawyer, at Beidler Bros. A true success story, he
eventually became stockholder and president, or vice-president, of several
Muskegon firms, and served two terms as Michigan state senator (1886 -
1890), and one term as U. S. Senator in 1892. John Wesley Moon was married
to Alice Noble, in 1867, and they had 6 children, 4 of whom were still
living in 1898, when one of the bios was written. The children were not
named, but I would like to make contact with any of John and Alice's descendants.
One bio is from _Michigan Biographies, Vol. 2_, and the other is from _Michigan
Pioneer and History Society, Historical Collections, Vol. XXVIII_, and
I'd be happy to share my copies with anyone..

GIBBONS
DONIHOO (also went by 'G. S." and the spelling of the surname varies, can
be 'DONIHUE' etc) was enumerated in Muskegon "Ottawa County" in the 1850
Federal census, as was his future wife MARY S. FOOTE, and her father G.
W. FOOTE. The men's occupations were "lumbering." I am searching for a
record of Gibbon's and Mary's marriage (1851) or any other information
out there pertaining to the families. Thanks in advance.

I am
researching the McNally family of Washtenaw County, MI and believe that
a Hugh McNally, from Ireland, entered the U.S.A. in Michigan by way of
Quebec. The records I have mention that he entered Michigan at "Whitehall".
Does anyone know if there are any records dating back to the 1830's that
would show arrivals at this port of entry? Thanky you.

married Elijah Chapman. They were born in NY but were in the Kalamazoo,
Van Buren area in the 1860's. One of their sons, John H Chapman, died at
age 6 in Grant, MI(Oceana Co in 1873) and their daughter, Romelia, married
Peter Riley in Muskegon Co. They had other children and I know more about
them. These Chapmans are buried in Cando, North Dakota. I know they were
in the Whitehall area before going to MN and on to Cando. Thanks, Judy
