While taking pictures in Port Huron, below Blue Water Bridge, we met a very interesting lady who was the daughter of Tyler Crockett, who was the captain of a Great Lakes Ship called
"Spokane". It was a very interesting time and we are interested in more information about said captain or ship. .

Family oral history claims that our ancestor, HENRY BELL COURTNEY, (founder of SWIFT & COURTNEY MATCH MFG.) may have relied on the shipping industry of the Great Lakes to import Canadian pine trees to their plant in Chicago, IL, around 1878. I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who might have more information. Thanks so very much! .

Searching for data on Joseph MASON/MASSON who was a Ship Pilot on the Great Lakes ca 1860, apparently a navigator rather than tugboat operator, since have 2 different pictures of ships he was on. Only other known fact was that he had a son John b 1860 either Mi or Can.; Joseph believed to have been Fr/Canadian. John was married 1884 in Charlevoix County, Michigan. Any help appreciated. .
