BRITTON, COON, DEXTER, LAMPSON, LAMSON, WOODARD posted by Chuck Rose on Saturday, June 14, 1997

Mary DEXTER lived with the family of William LAMPSON or LAMSON in Birch Run TWP, SAGINAW County. She is listed in the 1900 and 1910 census as 'sister' apparently of Isabell LAMPSON. Mary DEXTER died Nov 23, 1910 in Birch Run.Parents names on death record are Daniel COON and Mary BRITTON. I believe Mary DEXTER is the widow of Lorin DEXTER of CLINTON county and CALVIN WOODARD of IONIA county, MI. I would like to get an obituary for Mary DEXTER.

DODDS, WALKER posted by Debra J. Eddy on Friday, June 27, 1997

I would like to help an elderly cousin learn more about her grandfather's WALKER family. Looking for information about Ralph and Celestine WALKER, of rural Saranac, Ionia Co., MI, and their descendants. Ralph was born about 1816 in Canada, and is believed to have died in an accident about 1870. He was married to Celestine, who was born circa 1828, Canada and died circa 1875, Ionia Co., MI. They moved to Michigan about 1865 from Norfolk County, Onario, Canada, and lived 2 miles southeast of Lowell, in the Ware school district. Family tradition says they were buried in the Boston cemetery, but no gravestone or transcribed cemetery record exists for them. Known children are: (1) David (born 1842), who was appointed fire chief of Grand Rapids in the early 1900s. Census and other records exist for two different David Walkers; I don't believe the one from Plainfield is him; (2) Francis "Frank" (born July 1844), who married Rebecca and lived in Odessa Twp., Ionia Co.; (3) Elizabeth 'Libbie' ZIMMERMAN, who lived near Midland; (4) Lovina (born 1858), who married a STORY; (5) Agnes; (6) Edward C. (born circa 4 Mar 1862, Norfolk Co., Ontario - 1 Sept. 1934, Lowell, Kent Co., MI), who married Harriet DODDS on 30 Aug 1891 in Berlin, Ionia Co., MI; (7) Will; (8) Mary E. (born Sept. 1854, Canada, died circa 1929), the wife of Philip M. DODDS (he was a brother of Harriet, who married Mary's brother, Edward Walker)

WALKER posted by Debra J. Eddy on Friday, June 27, 1997

Who were Grace and Clara WALKER of Lowell, MI, and how were they related to Edward WALKER, my cousin's grandfather? She knows that Edward was somehow related to Grace, but Grace was not his niece. Grace was a Christian Science reader in Lowell. She was a tall, commanding person and was the only woman on the Lowell school board at that time. She was also a business woman, in the real estate business. Grace and Clara owned land across from the Boston cemetery in Ionia Co., where some known Walker relatives are buried.

ALDRICH, NOYES, REED, WEED posted by Diane Bond on Friday, June 27, 1997

BENJAMIN ALDRICH married a MARY WEED/REED. They had a daughter named SARAH JANE ALDRICH, born Jan 22, 1840, somewhere in Canada. While growng up she lived in Saranac. She had a brother or cousin named BENAJAH ALDRICH. Sarah married NATHANIEL KING NOYES, who was probably born in Vermont. He was a lot older than she was, born 1810-1815. They had four daughters, inc. FLORA ADELE NOYES, born July 19, 1880. My questions are, did Nathaniel King Noyes have a wife or wives previous to Sarah? Is he the Noyes on the 1850 census who was living close to and probably related to True Worthy Noyes and Hiram Noyes, formerly of Vermont, and past that, of Massachusetts? When did Nathaniel die? Did he die in Ionia Co.? Flora was my husband's grt-gm.
