CORNWELL, VAN BUREN, WAINWRIGHT posted by Doug Cornwell on Sunday, June 14, 1998

Looking for information about the George and Olive (Eliza) Cornwell family that appears in the 1880 census in Danby township, Ionia Co. They may have been in Danby area for only a short time as I have had difficulty locating them in that area and supposedly, Olive Cornwell, died some time after 1880, but I don't know exactly where. The family is listed in Sturgis, SD, in the 1900 census without Olive. What could have been the route the family could have taken to Sturgis, whereby, Olive could have died and been buried? Olive is seen in pictures during the period around 1880 with a sister, Lydia Van Buren and a brother, Nelson Wainwright. Presumably, they had also come from New York state as did the Cornwell family and could have moved on with the Cornwells. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Doug Cornwell

BUCKMASTER, DYER posted by Gail on Wednesday, June 24, 1998

We have been searching for my Uncle for the past 50 years for his son. His name is James Clarence BUCKMASTER and we finally found him in the death index. He married my Aunt in 1945 and afterward told her his real name was Raymond Lloyd DYER and he had been in prison. We found some info on Dyer being in the MI Reformatory in 1930, born in Ark. June 27, 1910. We found James's name & soc. sec. # by using this birthdate. But on the death certificate it says he was born in Illinois. He may have moved to MI later as he told her he was from Detroit. We are trying to find out if James Clarence Buckmaster was ever in the reformatory at the same time as Raymond Dyer or if Raymond Dyer had a soc.sec.# that may correspond with Buckmasters. How do I check to see if James was ever in prison there or in the state from say 1929 or 1930 to 1945 when he was living in CA. He was on parole in CA in 1945 as he had to wait till June or July in 1945 to get married. Can you help me in any way. The James Clarence Buckmaster we believe to be my Uncle died in Cathedral City, CA. May 15, 1996. We are trying to fill in all the past years as much as possible as that's all his son will have to know of him. Hopefully we may be able to find other relatives. I don't know how to access any school info if he may have gone to school in Detroit. & possibly met this Dyer there too.
