I am researching my GGGrandfather Orrin James Ellis. He may have went by James Ellis. He filed a homestead claim at the Ionia County Land Office in 1864. I am looking for information on my grandfather Earnest Alberts (son of James) who was married to Winnifred BARBER. He lived in Ionia in the early 1900's and worked on the railroad. They had three children Marian, Donald and Russell. Some other relatives in the area at that time were a Henry Alberts, George Alberts and Floyd Alberts. I know that James and Henry are both buried in the Highland Park cemetery. Any other information that someone has would be helpful. Thanks

ANDREWS, MILLER posted by Diane on Sunday, May 3, 1998

My ancestor, Jacob ANDREWS, was born and lived his whole life in Indiana; however, he went to his daughter's house, Mrs. Ray Miller, in "Iona, Michigan" (newpaper obituary) for two weeks and then died, sometime in 1933. Trying to find a death date so I can order his death certificate and maybe find out his parents names. I'm not sure if "Iona, MI" means Ionia County or.....is there a town called Iona??

DEVOY posted by Sherry on Monday, May 11, 1998

I am hoping you can help me locate WILLIAM DEVOY. He was baptised in Queen's County, Ireland in 1829 and emigrated to Ironwood, MI where he was probably married sometime after 1860. MARY MARGARET DEVOY was buried in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Ionia County, MI in 1981. Since this is an uncommon name, I am hoping Mary Margaret may descend through William'sline. If you have information to share, it would be greatly appreciated. I have much Irish data. Thank you!
