COOPER posted by Tim Cooper on Wednesday, August 19, 1998

My name is Tim Cooper. I just discovered the Ionia County Cemeteries through the USGENWEB today. Unforntunately, today is my last day at work with this e-mail address. I am not on the internet at home yet, but I would like to get in touch with someone who is familiar with the genealogical resources in Ionia. I have been in touch with some distant cousins in the Ionia area, William Ernest COOPER & Linda (Cooper) Limon, but they don't have much experience with genealogy. I have been researching the descendants of Richard Cooper (1639-1724) of Plymouth, Mass. for several years. The Ionia, Michigan branch is very close to mine. We are descended from Benjamin Cooper (1771-1846) who moved from Plymouth, Mass. to Paris, Maine in 1802. My ancestor, William, was the youngest of 8 children. (6 girls & 2 boys) The 2nd oldest child, John, was born in Plymouth & moved to Maine with his parents. He married Rebecca Matthews and had several children before they all moved to Michigan in the mid 1860's. Sons Jarvis Carter Cooper & William King Cooper served in the Civil War. I have the pension records. According to these records, William is buried in Oak Hill Cem. (I am relying on memory as I wasn't expecting this today), but I don't know where Jarvis is buried. Jarvis' son, Milo Ernest Cooper (1878-1936) is in your listing for Tuttle Cemetery. I also found one of Jarvis' sisters in your Highland Park Cemetery listing. Eliza Ann Cooper married Isaac Thayer. He had more sisters. Jennette Kittredge Cooper married David Wilson Belding. Sally Billings Cooper married Milo Pierce. Another sister married George Kimball Jackson. I would be very interested in sharing information with anyone who might be interested in learning more about these families, but, as I mentioned at first, I won't be able to do it over the internet. My sister has e-mail, but she lives in Vermont and travels a lot. Her name is Christina Ruth (Cooper) Tourin and her e-mail address is harprealm@aol.com. She can also be reached at her web site - www.emeraldharp.com, or just emeraldharp.com. She could pass along an address or a phone number. Other than that, I can still be reached the old fashioned way, via the U.S. Postal Service. My address is: Timothy G. Cooper 33 West Kidder St. Portland, ME 04103-4916 (207) 780-0306 I will gladly reimburse anyone for initial postage and send SASE thereafter. Thank you, sincerely, Tim Cooper

I would like to get in touch with members of family descended from John W. MOORE and Elsie R.(CHADWICK) MOORE. It was a large family and many of them stayed in the Orleans area, with many buried in Green cemetery. The descendants would include descendants of Frank, Alma Leland, Byron, Nellie, Myra, Arthur and possibly others that I don't know about. I am descended from Mittie M.MOORE YORKS.
