BARR, BELLINGER, CORNWELL, TITUS, WAINWRIGHT posted by Doug Cornwell on Sunday, February 7, 1999

The Cornwells and the Wainwrights moved to Danby, Ionia Co., MI, after 1870, from Cortland Co., NY. They were there in 1880 (as recorded in the 1880 census of Ionia Co.) The Cornwells did not stay long as the father and one son (George and George, Jr.) are found in the 1900 census of the Dakotas. Another son of George (Samuel) returned to Cortland Co., NY, probably in the early 1880s. His family is found in the 1892 NY state census for Cortland Co., NY. Samuel married Minerva Bellinger. Her family had been in Ionia Co. area of Michigan for a longer period of time.

FOX, SACKETT, WHEELOCK posted by Jan Wheelock on Saturday, February 13, 1999

Does anyone have information on the descendants of Charles Fox whose marriage to Dellie (or perhaps Dolly) Sackett was recorded in the Ionia Sentinel as December 21, 1879. Who were Charles'parents? Dolly's parents were John and Sylvia (WHEELOCK) Sackett.

CONNER, HOLCOMB, LEMON, SAMPSON posted by Andrew MacLaney on Saturday, February 27, 1999

My great-great-grandfather was Jared Conner (?-1852), married to Caroline McCord (?-1883), both from Orange County, NY, settled Easton Township, Ionia County, MI February 1834. His brother was Thomas Harrison Conner (1814-1885), married to Mary Ann Hunt (1825-1889), had one son, Virgil G. Conner (1842-1903) and two daughters, Mary (Mason) (1849-1933) and Hannah (Burroughs/Tunmore) (1856-1910). Jared and Caroline Conner's son was my great-grandfather, William J. Conner (1830-1913). He married Temperance M. Lemon (1832-1907), daughter of William and Hannah Lemon, in 1856. They had nine sons: Edward (1860-1941), Frank (1862-1925), Jerry (1863-1913), Harvey (1865-1934), Charles (1866-1935), Ferry (1868-1939), George (1869-1942), Cassius (1871-1939) and Gordon (1874-1938). Cassius M. Conner was my grandfather. He married Carlotta Edith Sampson (1881-1950) in 1902. They had children: Frank (1903-1972), Reva (Meno) (1906-1989), George (1909-1977), Beulah (Moore) (1911-1993), Eunice (Frisbie) (1914-living), Marie (Woody) (1917-1991), Chrystal (MacLaney) (1919-1998). Carlotta (Lottie) was the daughter of William Sampson (?-?) and Jennie Britton (1855-1938). After William Sampson died, Jennie married Charles Holcomb (1869-1950) in 1916. I would like to contact anyone with any interest in any of the above individuals or families. My ancestral ties to Ionia County date back to 1834.
